The thesis — why it may be mispriced
The gold-text ST13-003 — the Premium Card Collection 'Leader Collection' parallel, told apart from the ~$15 base by GOLD foil text (the base is silver). Never sold in a booster: it came only inside a $15 six-card collection at Bandai's own events. Trading ~$195 raw in the US and firming toward $185–280. The gold text is the whole story: same number, different card.
- The disambiguator is the text colour: this parallel has GOLD foil name text; the base Ultra Deck Leader has silver. Buyers who miss it overpay for a $15 card or underprice a $200 one.
- Scarcity: it was never in a pack. The card came inside the Premium Card Collection -Leader Collection- (6 cards + booklet, $15 MSRP), sold over the counter at the BCG Fest 24-25 World Tour and the Championship 2024 Finals in North America and Europe — a single Luffy now trades at ~12–19× the entire pack's retail.
- Trajectory: US eBay sold climbed from ~$76 (May) to a $185–280 cluster (Jun–Jul) — a firming, not spiking, market.
- Regional arbitrage: SNKRDUNK's Japanese asks sit ~$50 while US sold clears ~$185+ — a ~3× gap on the identical card, a live edge for SEA collectors.
- Founder holds this card (disclosed) and calls it a BUY (target $350–500) — conviction that a print run which ended with the events, plus the firming US floor, keep pulling it up.
Biggest risk: The image on this page is the base Leader art as a placeholder until the founder's own gold-text photo is added — the gold vs silver text isn't visible in a flat base scan, and that difference is the entire value gap. On price: three of the last four sales printed below $200, so the $250–280 highs may be the outliers rather than the new floor. On supply: a Premium Bandai listing for the same collection has been reported and we have not confirmed it — if the collection was also sold outside the event circuit, the scarcity leg is weaker than stated.
